Blue Whale from OCD
Here's the latest razor to roll off the OCD Razors assembly line. It is an 8/8's full hollow blade with a mirror finish. The scales are from stablized blue Madrone finished with super glue, and a wedge from a scrap of hippo tooth ivory. The pins are 1/8 folder barrel torq screws (thanks Butch).
This is my third attempt to make this razor. The first one my cat knocked the finished blade off the table and broke it. The second one I had a grind-through on the 2" wheel. That is at the very end of the grinding process.
Looks like the third one's the charm!!!
Thanks for looking,
Bob

My jaw just dropped!
Now that is totally unique! Love it! :tu

So. Cool.
Very clever, very nifty. How's it shave with the tail?
-
That is too cool. You've got the silouette of the blade dead on. Nice job.
Can't wait to see what you do with that big, beautiful black marbled horn behind it either (I'm a sucker for black/brown horn with thick white streaks ...

Thats awesome - the razor actually looks like a sperm whale when closed in the first pic!
Is blue madrone a species of hardwood?
And the blade itself...superb. It reminds me of that limited edition Thiers Issard, the Pierre whatever, the way the spine has that hump and sway...just alot bigger and more creative

Bob,
you're on a roll. Good to see you're back behind your belt grinder.
Extremely Nice work, keep it up.

Very nicely done Bob. And like Max said good to see you up and running. I have always love the whale since I first saw it in your pics. It looks like it turned out great.

All I can say Bob is it is about time!!! ;) I've been waiting for you to get this blade done after I first noticed it.....and after I couldn't talk you out of it. The scales are better than I could have ever pictured, they fit the blade so well. Wow just about does it!

Thanks all for your kind comments.
Well I had my first shave today with the Blue Whale.
When you make a razor it is sorta like raising kids....you never know how they are gonna turn out.
I'm keeping this one!!!!!!!
